Sat, September 11, 2004 - 3:51 PMYeah, tell me about it, AOL and the banks are in cahoots together...
I got rid of that racket three months ago... “F”ing criminals, they’re still charging me and my bank won’t stop them. I smell a law suite.

Sat, September 11, 2004 - 4:00 PMI haven't been on AOL in at least Ten years, and it never has been one that I have thought of going back to. I generally rather have my internet software have no relation to my online service. -

Sat, September 11, 2004 - 6:21 PMIt's a very little known virus in the computer world. It's crap, I won't have it even if it is free. There's other ways to get on the net, and without bloated software that sucks your resources. -

Basically, you drive around with a laptop and a wifi antenaee looking for unsecured wifi networks to leech from. -

Sat, September 11, 2004 - 7:00 PMOne of my buds has dial-up and couldn't figure out which service to use, and learned to dun. Something about just having a username and password to get on, but I don't know much more about it. -

Re: aol logs me off u mother...
Sat, September 11, 2004 - 7:30 PMya, funny one day it came in the mail after I was bragging to someone in a very threatening manner that I was a card carrying member of the NRA and he better not mess with me. Few days later, boom-I get a card from the NRA. rofl! Didn't even know they gave out cards. Thought it was pretty cool. Then I moved, and it probably is in a box someplace. I had it setting by my computer and would flash it to visitors periodically. -

Sun, September 12, 2004 - 12:01 PMwhere do you live?
i get verizon dsl for 4 bucks more than aol's dial up price. they are pretty ok so far.

Re: aol logs me off u mother...
Sun, September 12, 2004 - 1:54 PMANYTHING is better than aol. If you're going dial up, I suggest anything you can use a dun for, so you don't have software and ads to worry about.
Here's a couple of links for you:
www.findanisp.com/ Terrific site, gives rating of isp service, pricing and packaging.
CDNET reviews of ISPs: reviews.cnet.com/2001-6028_7-0.html
Freedomlist, my personal favorite for finding good, cheap dial up service:
www.freedomlist.com/ Also has reviews.
good luck, and you may need to wipe your drive clean to get rid of aol for good. :(

Re: aol logs me off u mother...
Sun, September 12, 2004 - 9:25 PMOne of the things to consider Joseph, is that most you cant tell the difference. whet you might also find out after you narrow down to a short list of ISPs is find out if there are a lot of complaints about it, ask your real friends, as well as virtual friends to see if they had bad expiences. Part of the reason why I suggest real friends, is because the same ISP may have great service in one area, but be sluggish in another area, especially with DSL.
By the way DSL is probably the way to go if you are not using it yet, but if finances are tight at the moment, you might stick to Dial up with a company that does have DSL, so that you can upgrade without loosing your e-mail address.
Leopardlady probabalby has come up with about as good of a list there is. But I would like to add www.computeruser.com/ to the list. -
