One of the things to consider Joseph, is that most you cant tell the difference. whet you might also find out after you narrow down to a short list of ISPs is find out if there are a lot of complaints about it, ask your real friends, as well as virtual friends to see if they had bad expiences. Part of the reason why I suggest real friends, is because the same ISP may have great service in one area, but be sluggish in another area, especially with DSL.

By the way DSL is probably the way to go if you are not using it yet, but if finances are tight at the moment, you might stick to Dial up with a company that does have DSL, so that you can upgrade without loosing your e-mail address.
