Would like to say hi to all the tribe members and I look forward to your discussions and knowledge.
I currently work with physicians to reform peer review policies. An example is the recent $366 million court ruling a jury in Texas gave a physician due to his "peers" malice in a peer review of his cases. The current framework gives peers the ability to lie about the abilities and methods of other physicians, who are pushed out in order to increase the profits of the "peers." It is unfortunate, but it is.
I'm Green, a novice fan of Nader, a surfer, rock climber and Henry Rollins freak.
Hope to hear from you all soon.

Thu, September 16, 2004 - 1:46 AMHey man, welcome... There is no law that allows lieing in court. It's people and there lawyers who lie , only for the allmighty dollar. It happens now, will continue to happen and has happened since the dawn of man. Just b-couse someone swears to tell the truth doesn't mean they will. When money is involved... people will fuck there mother to get it. Sorry if you had a rude welcome. Just my oppinion. By the way... Henry's the shit! Check out the Black Flag tribe! If you wanna.

Thu, September 16, 2004 - 9:41 AMHey! I have been to the Semmelweis Museum in Budapest! If I remember correctly, he's the guy that required his surgeons to wash their hands after they handled corpses and before they delivered babies! It was kind of gory, with all of the equipment they used to use in the 18th and 19th centuries for surgery, but my dad's a doctor, so it was important to him that we go. Very interesting!
I like to post about legal issues on this tribe because even though I make lots of requests, I have never been allowed to become a member of either "Legal Advisors" tribe or "Attorneys and Lawyers" tribe.....guess they don't want to hear what I have to say...their loss! -

Re: Andrew Holley - New Tribe Member
Fri, September 17, 2004 - 11:56 AMYou're right about Semmelweis: he wanted it to become a requirement in hospitals that physicians wash their hands before and after seeing patients after (through his own research) he discovered a link between infection in women who had just given birth and their physician's cleanliness.
The physicians (his peers) didn't like the idea, so they ran him out of the Austria, and left him to die alone, in a psychiatric ward, homeless, penniless, and friendless.
Unfortunately, the problem our group addresses starts with greedy physicians. So even though they are wearing a white coat and a stethescope, it's still dog eat dog.
